A Picture-Perfect Proposal at Kraft Azalea Park

Kraft Azalea Park set the stage for one of the sweetest surprises I’ve had the honor to photograph. Nestled in the heart of Winter Park, this hidden gem offers towering cypress trees, Spanish moss, and serene lake views—making it an ideal location for a romantic proposal.

This session was especially meaningful because Riley and Kaitlyn had just returned from a cruise to the Bahamas that morning. They took a road trip from Virginia to Port Canaveral for their getaway and planned an Orlando visit too! Riley had the perfect plan in place.

A Clever Cover Story That Led to a Magical Moment

To keep the surprise under wraps, Riley told Kaitlyn they were heading to a waterfront brunch spot. As they strolled through Kraft Azalea Park, he insisted he was trying to find the restaurant. This was such a great cover story and gave them a reason to explore the park without raising suspicion.

Kaitlyn didn’t suspect a thing! As they walked under the iconic Exedra monument framed by moss-draped trees, Riley dropped to one knee. She was totally caught off guard—and the look on her face was everything. You could see the joy instantly! Riley’s nerves melted into pure happiness. After the proposal, we got to take engagement photos. Their love was easy to see and even easier to photograph.

A Celebration to Remember in the Heart of Orlando

After our session, the newly engaged couple spent the rest of the day celebrating in Orlando. The real plan was to go to Helena Modern Riviera which is just such a fun spot, perfect for celebrating! They topped it all off with a visit to Magic Kingdom the next day before their road trip back to Virginia. What a fun and unforgettable way to mark such a huge milestone!

I loved spending this special time with Riley and Kaitlyn. They were so sweet and joyful together—it truly made my job a dream.
